The Sturry & District Group of League of Friends raises funds to purchase gifts for the benefit of patients and a staff. Subscriptions, bingo evenings, and events, cards for birthdays, Christmas etc are some of the ways we raise our income.

Canterbury & District Model Engineering Society
Canterbury & District Model Engineering Society operates at its track on the Brett Landscape Site off the Fordwich Road. Each month from April to September we hold a public running Sunday 2pm. To 5pm. When all are welcome to come and ride either our model steam or electric locomotives for a small donation to cover our running costs. We endeavour to publicise these days in the local press immediately prior to the event. We can also cater for birthday parties for children. New members will be cordially welcome. Are you over 50, live in the Sturry Parish and would like to add some colour to your social life? SOFG membership will provide you with access to a popular group of residents who enjoy social evenings with meals, outings, lunch club, short mat bowls and an annual holiday. The Society is a local amenities group founded to promote projects of interest relating to the past and present of the villages of Broad Oak, Hersden and Sturry. The Society is building an archive of recordings, photographs and other documentary material of local interest. Canterbury & District Angling Association
The stretch of river which the Association leases from the Fordwich United Charities reaches downstream from Fordwich Bridge as far as Plucks Gutter at Stourmouth. The fisheries between Fordwich and Grove Ferry are in surroundings of great natural beauty, and are part of an area designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, recently upgraded to an international RAMSAR site. Annual awards to fishermen include in excess of 30 cups and trophies. Sturry, Fordwich & District-Aire Sur-La-Lys Twinning Association
Encouraging cultural understanding, creating friendships across national boundaries and offering members the chance to visit our twin town in France, our Twinning Association offers life-changing opportunities for members. Aire Sur-La-Lys, located near Calais, shares the mining heritage of parts of our Parish and previous cultural and social exchanges have provided members with the chance to experience the French way of life and culture while also promoting understanding of our heritage. Chislet Colliery Welfare Association Bowls Club

Throughout the summer season, they host a full programme of matches and competitions against other clubs and within their membership. Qualified coaching can be made available for new members, who are always welcome to come along to practice sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the afternoon. The essential requirements for joining us on the green are flat soled shoes.
